Ukrainian ex-world champion Gvozdyk returned to the ring with a victory

Former world light heavyweight champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk (18-1, 14 KOs) had a successful first fight after his decision to resume his career.

Gvozdyk returned to the ring as part of a boxing evening in American Pomona. In a six-round fight, he was opposed by the Mexican Josue Obando (20-35-2, 15 KOs).

Despite the passing status of the opponent, the 35-year-old Ukrainian managed to win only on points, but with a confident margin and unanimously - all the judges counted 60:54.

Alexander Gvozdyk is the bronze medalist of the 2012 Olympics in London, and in 2018, thanks to the victory over Adonis Stevenson, the Ukrainian became the WBC world champion.

Gvozdik had his last fight in October 2019 against Russian Artur Beterbiev and lost by technical knockout in the tenth round.. In the summer of 2020, he decided to end his career.
