The former rector of one of the leading universities in Kyiv was informed of suspicion of taking state funds on an especially large scale for illegally accrued bonuses of more than a million hryvnias, the Kyiv city prosecutor's office said.

According to the investigation, during 2018-2020, the rector of the capital's university instructed his subordinates to unreasonably accrue bonuses to him.. As a result, the official illegally received more than 1.3 million. hryvnia of budgetary funds.

According to the prosecutor's office, the scam was discovered during the audit of the institution by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and confirmed by the specialists of the State Audit Service of Ukraine and the conclusions of forensic examinations.
