A large number of companies headquartered in the European Union and G7 countries continue to work and invest in Russia. These are the findings of researchers from the University of St. Gallen..

According to data obtained by Professor Simon Evenette and Professor Niccolo Pisani of the International Institute for Management Development, at the time of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, there were 2405 subsidiaries operating in it, owned by 1404 companies from the EU and the G7. Despite tough Western sanctions, by the end of November 2022, less than 9% of this group of companies abandoned at least one subsidiary in Russia.

Foreign companies headquartered in the United States left the Russian market more willingly than European and Japanese ones..

However, the results show that less than 18% of US subsidiaries operating in Russia were completely withdrawn from the country in the year following the invasion.. Of the Japanese companies, 15% left the Russian market, and only 8.3% of European companies left Russia.

Of the remaining EU and G7 companies in Russia, 19.5% belong to Germany, 12.4% to America, another 7% are Japanese multinational companies.
