The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) has renounced its affiliation to the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC). This is how the UOC-MP reacted to Russia's intention to convene a meeting of the UN Security Council. The appeal was published by the information center of the UOC.

The UOC noted that they learned from the “media” that Russia’s permanent representative Vasily Nebenzya convened a meeting of the UN Security Council due to the alleged oppression of the UOC-MP in Ukraine.

" Also, we did not authorize anyone from the ROC-MP to speak on our behalf at the UN. We are concerned that questions about the Ukrainian Orthodox Church are being raised by structures that have nothing to do with us,"

Also, the UOC called on the Russian authorities not to speak on behalf of their Church on international platforms and not to use the religious factor for political purposes..

Recall that at the end of May 2022, the Synod of the UOC-MP issued a decision on complete independence from the Russian Orthodox Church, as well as on disagreement with the position of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow regarding the war in Ukraine.

Such pseudo-changes to the charter of the UOC-MP saved it from a ban on its activities in the event that the Ukrainian parliament makes a corresponding decision, the Kharkiv Synod writes in its article.. UOC MP(o) "
