On the feast of the Nativity of Christ according to the Julian calendar, the primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Epiphanius, held a service at the Assumption Cathedral of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. Photojournalist ZN. UA Vasily Artyushenko showed how it was.

It should be noted that the Orthodox Church of Ukraine rented the Assumption Cathedral of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra from the Ministry of Culture for half a day in order to send a Christmas service here for the first time.

Epiphanius himself said that the servants of the Lavra are taking steps to serve the world of God, and not the “Russian world”. According to him, the Lavra has already embarked on the path to being “a true house of prayer for the Ukrainian people” and thanked everyone for releasing the Lavra “from the captivity of the Russian world”.

Earlier, Epiphanius said that due to the Russian invasion in Ukraine, there were more people seeking to move away from the traditions of celebrations common with the Russian Federation.. According to him, the change of the church calendar in Ukraine has accelerated.
