The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe adopted an action plan for Ukraine for 2023-2026 with a record amount of 50 million euros.

“The Action Plan “Resilience, Recovery and Reconstruction” (2023-2026) was developed in close cooperation with the Ukrainian authorities. This is part of the contribution of our Organization to the process of reconstruction of the country, faced with the brutal aggression of the Russian Federation and huge destruction.. The new Action Plan aims to increase the resilience of public institutions by strengthening democratic governance and the rule of law, as well as protecting human rights,” said Secretary General Marija Pejcinovic Buric, the press service of the Council of Europe reports..

The Council of Europe will work with the Ukrainian authorities to address their urgent needs and priorities, including supporting the implementation of the steps outlined in the European Commission's opinion on Ukraine's application for membership, in particular in the areas of constitutional justice, anti-corruption and money laundering; development of an independent, efficient and credible judiciary; promotion of freedom of speech and freedom of the media, strengthening the protection of the rights of national minorities.

The Action Plan will be accompanied by important events of the Development Bank of the Council of Europe (BRCE). The CEB will make an appropriate contribution by partially financing investment projects in Ukraine with high social added value, aimed at improving the living conditions of the most vulnerable segments of the population.
