UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths arrived in Ukraine on December 12 for a four-day working visit, the UN office in Ukraine reports..
Griffiths will visit Nikolaev, Kherson and Kyiv. Together with Assistant Secretary General and Humanitarian Coordinator for Ukraine Denise Brown, he will review the results of the humanitarian response and new challenges arising from increased damage to infrastructure amid low winter temperatures.
In Nikolaev, Griffiths will visit places where IDPs live and a UN-supported bakery that makes bread for people in front-line Kherson.
In Kherson, he will see how the UN and local authorities create heating points.
In Kyiv, the Deputy Secretary General of the UN will meet with high-ranking government officials, as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations and the diplomatic community.
