It was the Poles who left the Ukrainian team out of the tournament. A tense confrontation in the 1/8 finals ended in an unfortunate defeat of the team of Ainars Bagatskis - 86:94.

The current European basketball champions are the Slovenians, who defeated Serbia in the 2017 final.. It was Slovenia that then knocked out the Ukrainian team from the tournament at the 1/8 final stage.

The European Basketball Championship will last until September 18, 2022. Matches will be played in the Czech Republic, Georgia, Italy and Germany.
