Dynamo Kyiv head coach Mircea Lucescu commented on the second leg of the play-off round of the Champions League qualification against the Portuguese Benfica.
" We can't make as many mistakes as we did today.. The team is not ready to play at this level. There could have been six or seven heads in the end. There is a big difference between the two teams. We gave Benfica chances to score: in the first case, the goalkeeper made a mistake, in the second, our defense gave the ball to Rafa Silva, in the third episode, another mistake on our part and a counterattack.
In our situation, it is difficult to prepare a team. The players were not at home for two months and did not see their families. I don't want to look for excuses. Benfica outperformed us in both matches even though we did our best. I hope the players will recover mentally after this game. It will be a difficult season, but we must continue - this is important for all of us,"
Recall that Dynamo lost 0:3 to Benfica in the second leg and will now play in the Europa League group..
