The European Commission will support a project to restore destroyed infrastructure in de-occupied cities. This was announced by UNDP representative in Ukraine Manal Fouani.
According to her, the EC will allocate $21 million to support the program..
The funds will be used to clear the rubble of buildings and houses, repair and restore strategic infrastructure elements (transformers, heat points, water pumps, heat and water supply pipes, water disinfection systems and equipment for supplying renewable energy).
“Rapid repair of critical infrastructure in war-torn areas is a top priority, especially as a harsh winter looms. This project is aimed at restoring electricity and water supply facilities, as well as heat supply. These are vital services that provide residents with a decent life and comfort.. We must work with the government and local authorities to accelerate such recovery efforts,” Fowani said in a statement posted on the EU Delegation website..
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine and Turkey signed a memorandum on post-war reconstruction.
