European Union blacklists fugitive ex-president Viktor Yanukovych and his son Alexander.
“The Council of the EU, in response to the ongoing unjustified and unprovoked military aggression of Russia against Ukraine, decided to impose sanctions against the ex-president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and his son Alexander,” the press release says..
The reason for this decision was the subversive activities of Yanukovych Sr. against the sovereignty of Ukraine.. Yanukovych Jr. was sanctioned for doing business with ORDLO terrorists.
The European Union strongly condemned the Russian aggression against Ukraine, calling on the aggressor to immediately withdraw its troops and equipment from foreign territory, stop shelling civilian infrastructure, respect the rights of prisoners of war and ensure conditions for the return of children taken to Russia to their homeland.
"
The decision is published in the Official Journal, which means that the sanctions come into force immediately. Restrictions include a ban on entry into the EU and an asset freeze in the EU.
