German Chancellor Olaf Scholz claims that the information about the reduction of military aid to Ukraine is not true, as he said in an interview with Globe and Mail. According to Scholz, some of the weapons sent to Ukraine are so new that they are not even represented in the Bundeswehr..
“From the first days after the Russian attack on Ukraine, we have been supplying weapons and ammunition to the Ukrainian state. This is a complete rejection of the iron policy of all German federal governments - a ban on the export of weapons to crisis zones. They delivered everything that was: anti-tank and anti-aircraft systems, mines, guns, tons of ammunition and non-lethal assistance. We have since moved on to more complex and valuable systems.. Self-propelled howitzers, multiple launch rocket systems, anti-aircraft systems, counter-battery radars. Some of these systems are so new that few were produced, and some of them were not even introduced to the Bundeswehr,” Scholz said..
The chancellor added that working with such weapons requires training for the Ukrainian military, which Germany also provides. According to Scholz, even now Ukrainian defenders are learning to work with new and better equipment in several places in Germany..
“And we will continue to provide this support to Ukraine for as long as it takes,” Olaf Scholz assured.
