The French Basketball Federation banned the players of their national teams from representing clubs from the championships of Russia and Belarus.

This was reported by the press service of the organization.

The ban will be in effect until the end of the war in Ukraine unleashed by Russia. At the same time, players who have already moved to clubs from the Russian Federation and Belarus will simply not be called up to the women's and men's national teams of France..

All members of the French national teams will have to sign a statement in which they agree not to cooperate with the teams from the aggressor countries during the war in Ukraine.

Violation of the terms of this statement will result in exclusion from the national teams or personnel list for future tournaments, including the 2024 Olympics.

It is worth noting that the French basketball player Tom Ertel, who signed a contract with the Russian Zenit, was not included in the expanded squad of the French team for EuroBasket 2024.
