Before the match, Shakhtar players held a touching action - they took to the field in T-shirts with the number 358 - that is how many children have died since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russian invaders into Ukraine. The charity match in support of Ukraine ended in a draw - 2:2. Igor Jovicevic's men conceded in the 7th minute from the hosts striker Daishon Redan. However, on 41 minutes Artem Bondarenko's goal allowed the Orange-and-Blacks to restore parity.

At the beginning of the second half of the meeting, Shakhtar managed to take the lead. Dynamo Kyiv graduate Bogdan Mykhailychenko, who had become a Donetsk club player the day before, dispersed a good attack, and finished it with an accurate shot by Dmitry Kryskiv.

But the Ukrainian club could not keep the advantage. In the 66th minute, Sergey Krivtsov scored an own goal, setting the final score of the game.

The draw for the main round of the Champions League is scheduled for August 25, and the first round of the group stage will take place on September 6/7.
