It should be noted that for the Netherlands this was the last friendly game before the new season, while the Ukrainians played their second test match.
There were 11 Ukrainians in the starting lineup of Shakhtar for this match, and only one legionnaire was on the bench - Croatian Neven Djurasek. Shakhtar players took to the field with the flags of Ukraine and in T-shirts with the names of hero cities affected by the Russian attack. Before the start of the match, the Anthem of Ukraine was played, and the teams honored the memory of the victims of the war with a minute of silence.
In the game itself, the score was opened in the 33rd minute — the Pitmen's midfielder Mykhailo Mudrik made a spectacular run from his own half of the field, beating several opponents on the way, and struck a shot past the Amsterdam goalkeeper.
Despite this, it was not destined to leave for a break in the status of the leader of Shakhtar, because at the end of the half, Serb Dusan Tadic restored parity on the scoreboard.
In the second half, the Donetsk team's head coach Igor Jovicevich entrusted places to the youth team. The young players of Shakhtar held the defense for up to 73 minutes, until a long-range shot followed by a rebound from Steven Berghuis upset Andriy Pyatov. And in the 85th minute, the Amsterdam team scored the final score when they took the ball away with pressure, and Kudus hit the far post from the penalty line.
