The United States warned that the statements of the Russians that the Ukrainian side shelled the colony in Olenivka cannot be trusted. This was stated during the last briefing by a representative of the Pentagon, adding that the States still do not have clear information about what happened..

" I guess I'd tell you that I don't have definitive information on exactly what happened.. I would like to ask that we exercise some caution about what the Russians are telling us, simply because we know that they have made several statements in the past that were not close to the truth,"

He also commented on the story with HIMARS, of which, according to the Russian side, the Armed Forces of Ukraine allegedly attacked the colony. The Pentagon spokesman noted that the defenders have repeatedly used these MLRS against the Russian occupiers, so it would be very easy to fabricate evidence in this situation..

" Listen, but the Russians have a lot of wreckage from HIMARS, yes? added the official. - I mean, the Ukrainians, you know, sent them a lot of HIMARS. So it wouldn't surprise me. It would also not surprise me if the Russians. mislead us in terms of information and tell us that the Ukrainians did it"

He added that it makes no sense for Ukrainian defenders to fire on their citizens, because they care about their people - civilians and military.

Recall, on the night of July 29, Russian invaders carried out targeted artillery shelling of a colony with defenders of prisoners of war from Azovstal in Olenivka, as a result of which 53 Ukrainian soldiers were killed, 75 more were injured.

President Volodymyr Zelensky held an urgent meeting with the heads of all law enforcement agencies, after which they turned to the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross with a demand to send their representatives, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights and representatives of the Joint Center for Search and Release of Prisoners to the territory of this colony.

The signatories recalled that the key condition for the evacuation of the defenders of Mariupol from the territory of the Azovstal plant was the obligation of the Russian side to international organizations to preserve the life and health of Ukrainian defenders. This guarantee was cynically violated.

The Attorney General's Office opened a case on h. 2 articles 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder. The Office of the President of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the world community to respond to the Kremlin's daring actions. Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny promised that the Ukrainians would avenge the dead.
