The Embassy of Ukraine in Lebanon called on the authorities to clarify the conditions under which a Syrian ship carrying barley stolen in Ukraine was allowed to moor in Tripoli.

The Syrian vessel Laodicea, owned by the state-owned shipping company SYRIAMAR, was photographed as it passed through the Bosporus into the Mediterranean on July 23..

Both the company and the vessel were sanctioned by the US Department of the Treasury in 2015.

“At a meeting with Lebanese President Michel Aoun on Thursday, Ambassador of Ukraine Igor Ostash drew the attention of the President of the Republic to the fact that on July 27, 2022, a Syrian ship entered the seaport of Tripoli with barley exported from the occupied territories, which was loaded in the port of Feodosiya,” it says.. in an embassy message posted on Facebook on Thursday.

The embassy appealed to the Lebanese authorities with a request to take measures to clarify the circumstances of the ship's stay in Lebanese territorial waters, and also stressed that this fact could damage bilateral relations.

Earlier it was reported that Russia tried to sell Egypt 27,000 tons of grain stolen in Ukraine.. Cairo refused, so the ship had to change direction to Lebanon and Syria.

According to investigators, not only grain, but also sunflower is exported from the occupied territories across Russia.

Russia also steals not only agricultural equipment, but also grain in the occupied territories with industrial parties. Such cases are reported from the temporarily occupied territories in Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
