The European Union will provide Belgium, Italy and Luxembourg with 433.79 million euros to compensate for the costs associated with the provision of Ukrainian refugees and recovery from the coronavirus pandemic. This is stated in the message of the European Commission dated July 15.

It is noted that 33.4 million euros from the European Social Fund (ESF) will be sent to Belgium to strengthen the organization, advice and support for refugees in employment. The goal is to integrate into the labor market refugees from Ukraine and vulnerable job seekers who have lost their job or are in precarious employment conditions after the COVID-19 pandemic.

In Luxembourg, the Fund for the Disadvantaged will receive 390,000 euros to deliver additional food aid to people in need. This will allow the country to continue to respond not only to the current needs of fragile households, but also to the more complex challenges and new demands brought about by the social impact of the pandemic and the food crisis..

In Italy, €136 million will be added to the Governance and Institutional Capacity Operational Program to help relieve pressure on the country's health care system, facilitate the recruitment of new health workers and cover the cost of additional hours for 23,200 doctors and other medical staff during the pandemic. In addition, 264 million euros will be used to purchase doses of COVID-19 vaccines..
