Journalists in occupied and non-occupied territories face the same challenges. The challenge for editorial offices of local media is the dispersion of their employees throughout Ukraine and the need to again become the only professional team. Also, a critical problem is to help colleagues who could not leave the occupied territories and may fall into the web of the large-scale system of the occupier to “filter” unreliable. Analyst of the Opora Civic Network Alexander Klyuzhev writes about this in his article..

“So far, the flexibility of international donors, who are ready to support new locations and new areas of work of journalistic teams from the temporarily occupied territories, helps individual editorial offices to cope with these challenges.. However, isolated success stories should not overshadow the scale of the necessary assistance to local media that have left the occupied territories and are actually starting their work for their communities and Ukraine from scratch,” the author writes..
