Ukrainian karateka who learned to throw Molotov cocktails won gold at the World Games

A 32-year-old athlete from the Odessa region became the best in the weight category up to 61 kg. Earlier, another Ukrainian karateka Anzhelika Terlyuga triumphed in the weight category up to 55 kg.

In the group stage, Seregina lost to the Egyptian Dahab Ali (1:2), but advanced to the playoffs thanks to the victories over Christina Klinepeter from the USA (7:2) and the Netherlands Lynn Snell (3:1).

In the semifinals, the Ukrainian defeated Ingrida Suchenkova from Slovakia (3:2), and in the final fight she was stronger than Alexandra Grande from Peru (3:2).

Note that at the previous World Games, which were held in 2017, Seryogin won a silver medal, losing in the final to the representative of Peru.

Earlier, Seregina told how she combines sports and preparation to defend Ukraine from Russian invaders. The karateka admitted that she is mastering the skills of throwing Molotov cocktails.

The World Games started on July 7 in Birmingham (USA). They will last until July 17. Ukraine is represented by 103 athletes in 19 disciplines.

The World Games are international complex competitions in sports that are not included in the Olympic program, although they are held under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee.
