The powers of the mayor of Kherson will be temporarily performed by the secretary of the city council Galina Lugovaya. She will head the mayor's office instead of Igor Kolikhaev, who was kidnapped by the Russian military on June 28. The city council adopted the corresponding order on June 6.

“In connection with the capture on June 28 of Kherson mayor Igor Kolikhaev by representatives of the armed formations of the Russian Federation and the inability to temporarily exercise their powers... to ensure the organization of the activities of the executive bodies of the Kherson city council and utilities, institutions and establishments of the Kherson city territorial society... I proceed to the temporary exercise of powers.
