The Swiss Federal Council has imposed new sanctions on Russia, implementing the decision to support the sixth package of restrictive measures of the European Union. This was reported by the press service of the Federal Council.

Additional sanctions include an embargo on Russian crude oil and certain petroleum products, prohibiting their purchase, import, transit and transportation, as well as related services, including insurance.

As in the EU, in Switzerland the embargo will be implemented gradually. After several transitional periods, all measures will come into force in early 2023. To simplify the introduction of restrictions, the country approved exceptions for oil and oil products from the Russian Federation, which were legally imported into the EU before the introduction of the latest package of sanctions..

In addition, the decision of the Federal Council provides for a ban on the provision of accounting, public relations and business consulting services to the Russian government or Russian legal entities..

The sanctions also ban advertising for content created or broadcast by certain propaganda outlets, including Russia Today and Sputnik..
