US authorities stopped an oil tanker carrying Russian oil products that left the port on the Taman Peninsula in the Black Sea in early June and was due to arrive in New Orleans on July 3.

The tanker was chartered by the Swiss-Dutch oil trader Vitol. He transported fuel oil and vacuum gas oil.

US authorities, according to the newspaper, did not allow the tanker to be unloaded. It is checked by the United States Customs and Border Protection. Vitol says that the company operates strictly in accordance with applicable laws, taking into account sanctions.

On March 8, US President Joe Biden signed an executive order banning energy imports from Russia.. The US Treasury has set a deadline for completing transactions on imports of Russian energy resources to the country until April 22.
