The main priority for the state, which was not preparing for war, is to provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine with high-precision and effective weapons, in particular artillery, so equipping military personnel with bulletproof vests and berets turned out to be a secondary matter, Taras Chmut, head of the Come Back Alive Foundation, believes..
“Now I will say a very unpopular thing: it is not armor and helmets that are important for the state, the main thing is to win the battle. And for this you need art, ammunition, air defense and anti-tank weapons. Dot. And that's a priority.. Here the state invests in priority. Therefore, you can fight in jeans, and not in awesome berets, when art covers you, ”he said in an interview with Inna Vedernikova for ZN. U.A..
Chmut assures that good berets and high-quality body armor, which, according to him, not even everyone knows how to wear correctly, will not save you from enemy artillery, so the priority of providing the army is a very thin line..
“People always worry about their. The Ministry of Defense is worried about everything. But eat as it is. Saves not " Arta. Moreover, 90% of what is transmitted is bullshit, fuflomycin. Psychological pill. People don’t even know how to wear “armor,” adds a volunteer, commenting on the transfer of equipment for the military from abroad.
The head of “Turn Back Alive” noted that now the problem with providing the military is gradually subsiding, and the request for armor for volunteers has waned, including due to the establishment of procurement from the state.
“The production of armor and uniforms takes a certain amount of time. Logistics is also time. For example, we have an agreement with Sweden - the unfortunate 350 active headphones, which we implemented for a month and a half. Because they have a weekend, and the bank reviews the payment for a week.. Deadlines are tight now. At war, not with them. Moreover, the state issues “bronik” not to those who are in the rear, but to those who are at “zero”. In 2014, they only equipped me before the echelon. Yes, there are problems. And we know in which brigades that entered the east today they are critical. And we do what we can. Like other volunteers. But at the same time there are a bunch of other divisions in which there is nothing yet. And we won't let them. There are those who need it more,” he said about the problems of volunteers.
At the same time, Chmut does not mind - there are problems, including inflated prices for suppliers and corruption in the army..
“Of course, everything we are talking about right now is not normal.. ... There are individual commanders who do not care. But we will finally understand that there is no other way, because this is mobilization. And the army with its commanders is a mirror of society. They didn't come to us from outer space.. These are our friends and relatives. Corruption? It is also in the TRO, and in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and in power. I won't give specific examples.. On the other hand, the people stand still, but the state still sways. Now international assistance is already coming in, purchases are actively going on, we receive 30-40 thousand armor pieces per month.. The same amount has been contracted by the ministry, plus a million sets of uniforms,” says the head of the fund and adds that volunteering is a chaotic process that does not have a think tank in common with the state, but only personal communications.
