Russia and Belarus suspended from all basketball tournaments in Europe

The European department of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA-Europe) has decided to remove all teams and clubs from international tournaments.

This was announced by the official website of the organization.

The Russian team will not play at EuroBasket 2022 - there it will be replaced by the Montenegrin team. The tournament will be held from 1 to 18 September in Georgia, Italy, Germany and the Czech Republic.

It was also decided to ban clubs from Russia and Belarus from playing in European competition next season.. For women, this is the Euroleague and the European Cup, and for men, the Champions League and the FIBA \u200b\u200bEurope Cup.

Earlier, FIBA \u200b\u200bsuspended Russians and Belarusians from all world championships, after which it recommended that the European department of the organization do the same against the backdrop of a military invasion of Ukraine.
