The national basketball team of Ukraine won the Deaflympiad for the first time in history.

In the final, the team of Stanislav Kakovkin confidently defeated rivals from the USA - 91:66.

At the Deaflympic tournament in Brazil, the Ukrainians won all eight matches, inflicting the only defeat on the Americans.

At the group stage, our team defeated Lithuania (93:48), Brazil (92:45), Greece (89:41), Venezuela (88:53), Taiwan (81:35).

In the quarterfinals, Ukraine beat Argentina (88:50), and in the semifinals - Venezuela (82:72).

Ukraine continues to lead in the overall medal standings of the competition - Ukrainians won 51 gold, 31 silver and 34 bronze medals.

Deaflympiad - competition among people with hearing impairment. Ukraine in Brazil is represented by 170 athletes in 16 sports.
