A new study published in the journal Blood Advances suggests that people with cancer and blood type I are at increased risk of developing venous thromboembolism (VTE) three months after surgery.
VTE includes deep vein thrombosis (DVT), in which case the thrombus settles in the deep veins of the lower leg, the legenous embolism (TLA), which is unsafe for life, which is the cause, if the thrombus is blown and stuck in the arteries of the leg.
Although thrombosis can strike anyone, it is well-documented to show that people of the blood type, type I, are more likely to develop VTE. Cancer and cancer treatment methods also reduce the risk of blood clots.
In the course of the study, the role of blood groups in the development of VTE was determined. They took data from 1708 adults with new or recurrent cancer diagnoses. Veterinarians grouped them according to the blood type, and then classified them according to the type of swelling.
Although the type of puffiness may be redundant for the manifestation of people with a greater development of BTE, in rich people with less important puffiness, unsafe clots are still blamed, and they may need additional caution. The results of the study show that the designation of the blood group can be distinguished as an important prognostic indicator.
The author of the report Cornelia English, Doctor of Medical Sciences of the Vydensk Medical University, says that patients with blood types, which are type I, are more likely to develop VTE in three months after the diagnosis is made or recurrence of cancer.
