Occupants continue to forcibly remove children from temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine - Denisov

Russian invaders illegally removed 13 orphans, children deprived of parental care from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. This was reported by the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights Lyudmila Denisova on Facebook.

The Ombudswoman noted that Ukrainian children deported to the Russian Federation are transferred to be raised in the families of Russian citizens. This is a crime that, in accordance with international law, falls under the definition of human trafficking.

" Russia grossly violates the provisions of Article 49 of the Geneva Convention for the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, which prohibits the forced resettlement or deportation of persons from occupied territory,"

The Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights also appealed to the Security Service of Ukraine and the Red Cross Society with a request to assist in the speedy search and return of children.
