The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine announced the simplification of the procedure for registering marriage under martial law in the country.

Now you can apply and get married within one day. “Today's circumstances lead to the fact that people sometimes do not have the opportunity to wait. Because we all find ourselves in circumstances where we don’t know what will happen tomorrow and even today until the evening,” said Deputy Minister of Justice Valeria Kolomiets.

Also, for citizens in military service, it is possible to marry remotely.. In some cases, registration may not be carried out by registry office employees, but by police or military.

“They [servicemen] can contact their commander and apply that they want to get married remotely.. Thus, it is possible to register a marriage even if one of the spouses is not physically present.. A person who is not in the military unit can be connected remotely. And even both of the pair can be connected remotely, just via Zoom,” Kolomiets added..

According to the ministry, almost 22,000 Ukrainian couples have already got married in Ukraine since the beginning of the war..
