Kyiv remains under threat, because about a third of the grouping of Russian troops that attacked the Kiev and Chernihiv regions are still aimed at the capital. This was stated by a senior official of the US Department of Defense during a closed briefing at the Pentagon on April 4, Radio Liberty reports..

According to him, about two-thirds of the Russian troops concentrated around Kyiv (there were about 20 battalion tactical groups in total) left the area.. They are probably already in Belarus or on their way there.

" And that doesn't mean there's no ground threat. They still have a good third of their forces against Kyiv. No one claims that nothing threatens Kiev. We are seeing evidence that they are shifting priority towards Donbass, where it leads to more war,"

Regarding the military heading to Belarus, the US Department of Defense believes that they can regroup and return to Ukraine.

Recall, on April 2, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anna Malyar said that Ukrainian defenders liberated the entire Kiev region from Russian invaders.
