Lithuania was the first in the EU to completely abandon Russian gas, according to Delfi. This was stated by the Ministry of Energy of the country.

The Ministry noted that the Lithuanian gas transportation system has been operating without Russian gas imports since April 1. All demand in Lithuania is met by the Klaipeda liquefied natural gas terminal.

“This is the result of a long-term, consistent energy policy and timely infrastructure decisions,” commented Minister of Energy Dainius Kreivis..

Gas in transit through Lithuania continues to be transported for the needs of Kaliningrad, but in a different technical regime than usual, ensuring only the transfer of the amount of gas necessary for transit.
