In connection with the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, on February 24, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced a general mobilization. Explaining what it is.

According to the law on mobilization, general mobilization is carried out simultaneously throughout the territory of Ukraine and concerns the national economy, state authorities, other state bodies, local governments, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, other military formations, the Operational and Rescue Service of Civil Protection, enterprises, institutions and organizations. That is, during the general mobilization, all these structures can change certain rules of their work in order to strengthen the country's defense during the war..

The Armed Forces of Ukraine during the general mobilization have the right to complete their ranks with all citizens of Ukraine aged 18 to 60 who are able to perform military duties (primarily men).

General mobilization is carried out within 90 days after the entry into force of the presidential decree.

Waves of mobilization (stages):.

the first wave of mobilization concerns the operational reserve: they call on former military personnel with combat experience or who served under a contract;

the second wave of mobilization: they call up military personnel who, since 2014, have been in military service or served under a contract;

the third wave of mobilization concerns reserve officers - those liable for military service who graduated from the military departments of universities;

the fourth wave of mobilization: if the army does not have enough people after the first three waves, they begin to call on all the inhabitants of the country who do not have restrictions on age and health. By law, people without military experience must first be sent to training centers.

Since March 15, the second wave of mobilization has been taking place in Ukraine.
