In my feed from time to time I see the posts of people's deputies.
Including very famous people.
The vast majority of posts are photo and video reports about visiting checkpoints, meetings with the military, photo evidence of stay in Kyiv, distribution of humanitarian aid.
I look at these photos and I can’t understand: what are they all doing What is the effectiveness of this now, when a member of parliament, and sometimes the head of a faction, travels around the city and does what thousands of volunteers, soldiers and members of the therodefense do?
Yes, of course, it is important for all of us to see that parliamentarians are with the people. We've seen it all. Now you don't need this.
Everyone today should work as efficiently as possible in their place..
Yesterday a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada was held, important decisions were made, primarily to restore economic life in the country, which I wrote about in a previous article..
But what's next? Return to checkpoints again, to selfie volunteering?
I believe that the focus of attention of a part of the Verkhovna Rada should be turned 180 degrees.
From parliamentarians, for example, I personally expect them to amphibiously land abroad and hold hundreds of meetings with their Western counterparts so that they contribute to their countries agreeing to an increase in the range of weapons supplies and, possibly, closing the sky.
There is a huge need for this.. In European countries, the prime minister is not the sole leader of the country, but the product of a coalition agreement between the majority of parliamentary factions. The same applies to other members of the government..
It is parliaments that are the centers of the political system of Western countries.. They are a barometer of public opinion and quite often quickly correct the course of their government members..
And we urgently need to launch parliamentary diplomacy now. One President or Foreign Ministry with Dmitry Kuleba is not enough - you need to break the system from the inside.
Meetings with our diplomats are always perceived as meetings with representatives of our government. Meetings at the level of parliamentarians are actually a conversation with representatives of society. This is a different format and a different cut.
We must pursue a strategy of a thousand injections. Each deputy should become a kind of torpedo (in a good sense of the word), which should get into the heart of the political life of the EU countries and other Western countries, whose support is now extremely important. Hit and detonate, raising an informational and political wave.
Hundreds of deputies in EU parliamentary coalitions. Beneath each one are huge communities, political weight and influence opportunities.. For example, the current coalition in the Bundestag includes 416 (! ) deputies. UK coalition has 261 members of parliament. Here is the field to work.
To date, we have created 77 parliamentary friendship groups. Of these, 32 are friendship groups with Western countries. Each contains dozens of parliamentarians from other countries. All these are hundreds and hundreds of such contacts we need. Often these are already established and working contacts..
In addition, of course, there are other potential interlocutors abroad - influential non-governmental organizations, leading media and other centers of influence. Our diplomats are not enough for all this just physically.
Yes, not all of our deputies speak foreign languages. And not everyone is good at diplomacy.. But it doesn't matter now. We have an extensive system of foreign diplomatic institutions that can lend a shoulder and help parliamentarians meet with their colleagues and convey the truth.
Of course, not all 400 deputies should go abroad, but it certainly should not be 10-20 parliamentarians. This is where a smart approach is needed.. And it is necessary to involve not only deputies from the Servant of the People, but everyone who is able and willing to fight for the future of the country.
Of course, in this regard, it is necessary to allow voting remotely. This will untie the hands and allow the deputies to work on different fronts..
So the following is needed.
Make a decision at the level of the leadership of the state to switch the work of a certain number of parliamentarians to an external direction in order to ensure the adoption by foreign governments and parliaments of decisions that are critical for our defense and economy.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Verkhovna Rada, with the involvement of our embassies, to determine a strategy for communicating with parliamentarians of the EU and Western countries, and other centers of influence.
Simplify the mechanism for coordinating such international contacts, fixed in presidential decree 671/2022 "
Determine the list of people's deputies who are able, able and ready to make such contacts. The Committee on Foreign Policy and Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation could become the center of such work..
Give "
Introduce the possibility of remote voting in the Verkhovna Rada.
