Prosecutor General Irina Venediktova called on businessman Oleksandr Yaroslavsky, whose motorcade was involved in a fatal accident, to return to Ukraine. Yaroslavsky flew to London to relax with his family, but law enforcement officers are waiting for him for questioning.
Venediktova told reporters about this at a briefing in Kharkiv, Ukrinform reports..
She stressed that the investigation is working on the case of the accident with Yaroslavsky's cortege and appealed to the businessman with a call to return to Ukraine..
“If we want everything to be fair, transparent, fair, and I promise that we will not turn anything into political games, let's not turn an ordinary criminal case into some kind of farce. Return to Ukraine, I promise you that everything will be according to the law. Everything will be honest, professional and fast. We will complete all investigations. Here my word will be a guarantee,? news agency quotes Venediktova.
The Prosecutor General emphasized that no one would keep silent or “talk” about the accident with Yaroslavsky’s cortege.
Earlier, the speaker of the prosecutor's office of the Kharkiv region Dmitry Chubenko said that the man who came to the police with the recognition of the accident stopped communicating. The prosecutor's office withdrew his application for a measure of restraint and replaced the suspicion with h. 1 st. 396 (covering up a crime).
Venediktova considers the fact that the man did not come to the court session to choose a preventive measure for him strange: “So far we cannot find this person”.
The Yaroslavl DCH company said that the businessman left Ukraine on February 10 (the day after the accident) on a charter flight en route to London. Representatives of Yaroslavsky assure that the trip was planned: on February 11, the son of a businessman, Vladimir, was supposed to perform at a concert, tickets for which the Yaroslavsky spouses booked in January, and a family ski vacation with a prepaid hotel is planned until February 19.
