Nikolay Chechetkin became the head of the State Emergency Service in May 2015. In this position, he replaced Zoryan Shkiryak.

Nikolay Chechetkin served as deputy head of the State Emergencies Service since the end of March 2015. Born in Ivano-Frankivsk in 1965. Since 2002, he was an employee of various departments of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Ukraine. Since 2006, he held executive positions in the central office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the State Emergencies Service. Since July 2014. was the director of the department for organizing civil protection events of the State Emergencies Service.
