Bilodid brought Ukraine the first medal of the 2020 Olympics

Ukrainian judoka Daria Bilodid won the bronze medal at the 2020 Olympic Games.

Our athlete won the fight for 3rd place, where her rival was 30-year-old Shira Rishoni from Israel. She won with ippon at the end of the fight. Bilodid competed in the weight category up to 48 kg.

Note that the two-time world champion from Ukraine was prevented from entering the final by the 2017 world champion, Japanese woman Funa Tonaki, having performed a hold in extra time.

In the 1/8 finals, 20-year-old Bilodid defeated the representative of Serbia Milica Nikolic. And in the quarter finals, the Ukrainian defeated Catarina Costa from Portugal.
