The International Monetary Fund welcomes the recently adopted laws in Ukraine on the role of international experts in the selection of members of the High Council of Justice (SCJ) and the High Qualification Commission of Judges (HQC), but progress in other areas is needed to complete the first revision of the stand-by program. This was stated during a briefing by IMF Communications Director Jerry Rice.

"

He added that at this stage the discussion is focused on " strengthening the management of the National Bank, improving the legislative and regulatory framework for banking supervision, budget deficits, restoring and strengthening the anti-corruption base and the judicial system, as well as energy policy "

Rice also separately noted the constructiveness of the recent talks between the Fund representatives and Finance Minister Sergei Marchenko..

On June 9, 2020, the IMF approved a new 18-month stand-by program for Ukraine for SDR3.6 billion (about $ 5 billion) with an immediate release of $ 2.1 billion of the first tranche.

Following the allocation of the first tranche, four program revisions were scheduled.

Ukraine participates in the 18-month IMF stand-by program, under which $ 5 billion is reserved for Ukraine. In June 2020, Ukraine received $ 2.1 billion under the program. The next tranche in the Office of the President is expected to be received before September.

In February 2021, the IMF mission completed its work in Ukraine, but the decision to revise the stanb-by program and allocate a tranche was not made. Details - here.
