The Austrian national team defeated the North Macedonian team in the match of the first round of Group C of the European Championship 2020. The meeting in Bucharest at the National Stadium ended with a score of 3: 1.
The first goal in the game was scored already in the 18th minute. Stefan Liner at the far post closed the cross from the left flank from Marcel Zabitzer.
After 10 minutes, the score became equal. Goran Pandev scored the first goal of his national team in the history of the European Championships, catching the mistake of the goalkeeper of the Austrians Daniel Bachmann and sending the ball into an empty net.
After the break, both teams had chances to score, but Franco Foda's wards turned out to be luckier. In the 78th minute, David Alaba made a transfer to the opponent's goalkeeper, where Michael Gregoric beat the goalkeeper of the North Macedonian national team Stole Dmitrievski and brought his team forward.
In the 90th minute Marko Arnautovic put an end to the match.
