Putin signed a law on the right of Crimeans to hold public office in the Russian Federation

Crimeans who, after the occupation of Crimea by Russia, did not withdraw from the citizenship of Ukraine, will no longer be subject to restrictions on holding public office. The corresponding law was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The document was posted on the official Internet portal of legal information.

One of the authors of the bill, the head of the State Duma Committee on State Construction, Pavel Krasheninnikov, previously said that the document was developed in connection with the adoption of presidential laws that prohibit foreign citizenship and residence permits for state and municipal employees, some state and municipal positions.

The Duma committee noted that the changes are aimed at ensuring the rights of residents of the occupied Crimea and Sevastopol, who have decided to renounce Ukrainian citizenship, to fill state and municipal posts, positions of state and municipal service.
