The national team of Moldova is headed by an Italian coach

The Football Federation of Moldova has appointed Italian Roberto Bordin as the head coach of the national team - the official website of the FFM reported.

The 56-year-old has played 311 games in Serie A as a player in Atalanta, Napoli, Cesena and Piacenza.

As a coach, Bordin worked as an assistant to the head coach of Bologna, Padua, Siena, Sassuolo, CFR Cluj and Verona, and as a head coach in Trieste, Sheriff (won Moldova's golden double in 2018) and Neftchi.

Bordin's debut in the official match as head coach will take place in the 2022 World Cup qualifier against the Faroe Islands on March 25 (also Denmark, Austria, Scotland and Israel will be rivals of Moldova in the qualifying group).

According to the results of the last tournament of the League of Nations, Moldova was relegated to group D.
