Experts told what rules hypertensive patients should follow in order to prevent pressure surges. Doctors remind: in case of hypertension, a person's well-being depends not only on pills, but also on lifestyle, in particular, nutrition.

Rule 1: control the amount of salt. According to doctors, people suffering from hypertension, first of all, it is important to minimize salt intake - to eat no more than 6 grams per day. Semi-finished products, fast food and canned food differ in a large amount of salt - their use should be strictly controlled, or completely excluded.

Rule 2: Less Fast Carbs. The diet of hypertensive patients should contain as little as possible easily digestible fast carbohydrates: sugar, honey, jam, confectionery.

Rule 3: fatty and spicy - only as an exception. Fatty meat and dairy products, sausages and pates, offal, butter, fried food, as well as spicy dishes from the diet of hypertensive patients should be excluded or consumed only as an exception - in small quantities on holidays.

Rule 4: eat protein. The recommended amount of protein for nutrition in hypertension is 1.5 grams per 1 kilogram of body weight. Best sources are low-fat cottage cheese, chicken breast, legumes, lean meats, turkey.

Rule 5: replace harmful foods with useful ones. Here's what the doctors specifically recommend:.

Fat - 75 grams per day. To get them, use corn, soybean, rapeseed or olive oils, which are high in polyunsaturated fatty acids.

Vegetables - fresh or boiled. Use broccoli, cauliflower, bell peppers, tomatoes, spinach.

Flour - but not white flour products. If bread, then whole grain, if pasta, then from durum wheat.

Dessert - instead of baking, there are natural fruits and berries. Due to the abundance of vitamins and fiber, they effectively help to remove excess cholesterol.
