The prosecutor's office of the Donetsk region launched a pre-trial investigation into the violation of laws and customs of war involving intentional murder by representatives of armed groups of the Russian Federation not prescribed by law (h. 2 tbsp. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). This was reported by the press service of the Office of the Attorney General. The prosecutors found that on July 13, 2020, while trying to evacuate the body of the deceased reconnaissance platoon commander, who was blown up on an unknown explosive device near. Zaitsevo, Bakhmut region, representatives of the illegal armed formation of the Russian Federation carried out firing of large-caliber small arms of military personnel labeled with medical personnel. For the evacuation of the body of a serviceman, a silence regime was agreed. At the same time, representatives of illegal armed groups of the Russian Federation, guaranteeing a ceasefire, pursued the goal of attacking medical personnel. As a result of the shelling, a sergeant-senior combat medic of the airborne assault company was killed, and the deputy chief of staff received moderate injuries. Thus, prosecutors see signs of treachery in the actions of representatives of the illegal armed groups of the Russian Federation, which is expressly prohibited by article 37 of the Additional Protocol to the Geneva Conventions of August 12, 1949. This is the third recorded fact of treachery after the Ilovaisk tragedy and defense of Donetsk airport. Now the bodies of the dead are still on the battlefield, since representatives of armed groups controlled by the occupying state do not guarantee a ceasefire. Pre-trial investigation continues.
