WBC, WBA and WBO world champion promoter Vasyl Lomachenko Bob Arum said he plans to organize a Ukrainian boxer fight against IBF American title holder Teofimo Lopez in September.
The manager noted that Lomachenko and Lopez are not going to hold intermediate fights and will meet each other in the next fight. The battle can take place both with the audience and in the empty stands.
" Both refused intermediate fights. So we planned to do a fight in September. With fans or not - it makes no difference, "
At stake will be the title of absolute world champion in lightweight.
Note that the Lomachenko-Lopez battle was scheduled for May 30 in New York, but it was postponed due to the spread of coronavirus infection.
Lomachenko spent his last fight on August 31, 2019, defeating Luke Campbell and winning the WBC title.. Now the Ukrainian has 14 wins (10 knockouts) in 15 fights. Lopez has 15 wins (12 knockouts) in 15 fights.. In the last fight, he defeated Richard Commie. Recall that earlier Lopez promised to “knock out Lomachenko’s ass”.
