Paris turned out to be the most densely populated region in Europe - there are more than 21 thousand inhabitants per square kilometer. Athens followed by a wide margin - almost 10.5 thousand inhabitants per square kilometer. In third place was the suburb of Paris, O-de-Seine, where 9.4 thousand inhabitants per square kilometer.

These data were published by the European statistical agency Eurostat due to the fact that in Europe quarantine measures are starting to weaken, writes Europuls. In some countries, such as Spain, Italy, and Belgium, the quarantine regime was eased on May 4.; in others - for example, in France and the Netherlands - May 11.

According to Eurostat experts, in anticipation of the vaccine against COVID-19 coronavirus, maintaining social distance will remain very important, and it is much more difficult to observe it in densely populated cities than in rural areas.

According to the forecasts of the Pasteur Institute in Paris, the second wave of the epidemic in Europe may happen in August. According to them, now only 6% of the French have come into contact with the virus and, accordingly, have developed immunity.

And the easiest way to social distance will be observed by residents of the Nordic countries. In most of Sweden, Finland and the Baltic countries, less than 45 inhabitants per square kilometer. Even in the metropolitan regions of these countries, the population density does not exceed 540 people per square kilometer.
