Moscow Mayor's Office has purchased hundreds of thousands of Biozek Medical rapid tests for antibodies to coronavirus, declared as Dutch. According to The Important Stories and the Center for the Study of Corruption and Organized Crime (OCCRP), these tests are actually made in China. Their accuracy is lower than that reported by the manufacturer..
Anastasia Rakova, vice mayor and head of the Moscow operations headquarters, criticized Chinese test systems and said that not a single test system brought in from China showed its effectiveness, unlike the Dutch. As a result, the City Hall purchased Biozek Medical systems, which are sold by Inzek International Trading BV from the Netherlands. Reporters failed to find out the amount spent on the purchase.
The publication found that in fact, these tests were performed by the Chinese company Hangzhou Alltest Biotech Co. Ltd. After journalists contacted the leadership of the Dutch company, information about the production of tests in the Netherlands disappeared from its website.
“Important stories” emphasize that the accuracy of the tests is not as indicated (from 92.9% to 98.6%). They refer to studies by scientists from the UK, Spain and Denmark, according to which the system “does not meet the standards of reliable individual diagnostics”. In early April, the UK canceled the purchase of tests from Hangzhou Alltest Biotech Co. Ltd after a study by the University of Oxford came to the same conclusion.
