The off-road vehicle of the Russian pilot Vladimir Vasiliev burned out during the Dakar rally marathon, reports postimees.

Vasiliev and navigator of the X-Raid G-Energy team Vitaly Evtekhov were not injured. Ignition occurred due to a burst high pressure pipe in the fuel system of an SUV. The car burned out completely.

“It caught fire below - not the engine, but in the area of \u200b\u200bspare wheels on the right side. We pulled out “spare parts”, it seems like the fire extinguishers managed to bring down the fire, then the carbon fiber caught fire, the fire extinguisher is alone, and nothing can be done, ”Vasiliev explained.

X-Raid G-Energy crew took 11th place in the overall standings after the second stage of the rally. Dakar is being held for the first time in Saudi Arabia.
