The National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council has agreed to extend the deadline for disconnecting analog television in Ukraine to June 30, 2020.

On December 12, the National Council agreed without comment on the draft Cabinet of Ministers resolution “On Amending the Plan for the Use of the Radio Frequency Resource of Ukraine”, developed by the administration of the State Service for Special Communication and Information Protection of Ukraine.

He stipulated that the period of use of the analog signal in Ukraine for certain categories of broadcasters will be extended until June 30, 2020 (earlier the deadline expired December 31, 2019).

Alexander Ilyashenko, executive secretary of the National Council, explained that up to this date the analogue standard will be used by those broadcasters who work in territories bordering the Russian Federation - in the north of the country and in the Kherson region, on the demarcation line and temporarily occupied territories, as well as local television and radio companies,.

He said that the regulator expects that more free frequencies will be calculated soon so that interested local companies can switch to digital standard broadcasting by summer.
