The video from the moment of the crash of an overcrowded escalator in the Roman subway, on which fans of the CSKA Moscow football club were traveling, who came to the UEFA Champions League match with Roma, shows that some managed to jump onto a nearby escalator, and other subway fans saved the other subway fans.
Recall that problems with the escalator occurred at the Repubblika metro station during the hours when the metro was at its fullest - around 7:00 pm local time. In the video, the escalator accelerated sharply, and people did not have time to get off the stairs in time, falling into a pile.
According to the Russian Embassy in Italy, up to 30 citizens of the Russian Federation suffered. Seven are in serious condition, another five in a state of moderate severity. 18 people left the escalator themselves. The injured were taken to two hospitals.
