Divers and fishermen spent an underwater cleanup on the central beach of Zaporozhye - cleaned the Dnieper bottom along a half-kilometer stretch of beach. The action is annually held by representatives of the regional Federation of spearfishing, diving and fishing.
This year, activists have collected about one and a half cubes of garbage, reports Radio Liberty.
Among the divers found are car wheels and tires, mobile phones, metal barrels, numerous glass glasses and bottles, and even a supermarket trolley.
The organizers say that they are thus trying to demonstrate to the Cossacks in a vivid way what happens to be in the water as a result of their actions, and to teach the citizens not to throw garbage into the Dnieper..
