The Verkhovna Rada supported the basis of the bill number 3433, which provides additional protection for foreigners and stateless persons who participated in the protection of the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine. 252 deputies voted for, notes 112.

The bill provides that foreigners who fought in the Donbass on the side of Ukraine, can obtain a residence permit, proving their participation in the ATO or environmental protection. To do this, you will need to provide, for example, a representation of the Ministry of Defense or a petition from the commander. What is more, citizens of an aggressor country or states that did not recognize the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine are prohibited to require documents providing for a visit to the country of origin or an appeal to its official bodies.

A foreigner who, as a volunteer, took part in an ATO or environmental protection program will not be able to refuse to grant a residence permit for violating the period of stay in Ukraine or the absence of a registered place of residence in Ukraine.

The document prohibits the extradition of foreign volunteers in the Russian Federation or a state that did not recognize armed aggression against Ukraine (the Cabinet of Ministers will approve the list of such states).
